Love Lindy-hop? Don't like always having to find a partner to dance? Want to improve your individual dancing so your partner dancing improves? Love dancing to live music? Go back to the roots of Lindy: African Dance!
We are so fortunate to have an amazing team of teachers here in Minneapolis. Fodé Bangoura is an internationally renowned drummer from Guinea, West Africa. He both teaches a drum class on Tuesdays, 5:30 at Patrick's Cabaret, and plays lead djembe for the 7pm dance class on Tuesdays at Patrick's and Wednesdays at Zenon. His voice on the drums makes it near impossible not to get your groove on.
Whitney McClusky is an experienced and dynamic dance teacher and dancer. She is a student of well-known teachers Naby Bangoura and Mamady Sano, and has traveled to Guinea. She teaches Tuesdays at 7pm at Patrick's Cabaret, Wednesdays at 7pm at Zenon and there is a NEW Saturday class at Patrick's Cabaret at 12:30pm on Saturdays.
Whitney and Fodé also organize artists from all over the country to teach West African dances. There have been artists from the Congo, Ghana, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, and Guinea. In fact, there is a workshop next weekend with Naby Bangoura!
All levels are welcome. The environment is welcoming. It is about community and the love of dance. Everybody is there to learn!

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing?
